Old OMD E-M5 with 4/3 Lens

Hi from Italy.
I've a question for you.
I own an old Zuiko 14-54 that i use with my old E-1
I also own an OMD E-m5 and I would like to know if it is useful to buy the adapter for 4/3 Lens.
For landscape photography i use a zuiko 8.5mm, but I'd like to do some tests with the E-m5 and the 14-54. What do you think?
Excuse me for my poor english.
Piergiovanni

Try it.................

Is 8.5mm a bit wide for landscpaes? I am not into Landscapes particularly, but maybe that perspective makes for interesting effects...............

Thanks. Regarding the 8.5mm is a "normalE 17 on 35mm Format :-)

I've used the 14-54 on the EM5 MkI with the Olympus adapter, auto focus speed is very slow. I sold the lens and adapter and I would not recommend.

Hope I've saved you a bit of money. When I first considered the 14-54, I read far and wide about focus speed. The MkII is better than the MkI, that's for sure, but even so the MkII hunts around critical focus with at least one oscillation before settling. I found it irritating at the time, but times have changed I now prefer to manually focus unless I'm doing a point and shoot grab.

Re: Old OMD E-M5 with 4/3 Lens

I don't have the 14-54 but I do have the 12-60 SWD, and the AF with my E-M5 is slow and jittery. On the few occasions when I use that combination I too prefer MF.

Re: Old OMD E-M5 with 4/3 Lens

I though to use it only for landscape in manual mode. I have not a zoom, i use only 17 mm and 45 mm on my OMD E-m5 and the kowa 8.5mm F2.8. Thanks!

Re: Old OMD E-M5 with 4/3 Lens

The 14-54 is an excellent lens when used appropriately, ie manual focusing on the MkI EM5. Suggest you buy one of those cheap adapters from China and try it out.

Re: Old OMD E-M5 with 4/3 Lens

It would work better with the E-M1 Mk I or II with the PDAF on the sensor, but best used MF on an E-M5. Probably not worth buying an Oly adapter just for that, but a cheap one could be worth a try as Steve said.
