This is red wing two requesting permission for take off

Not brilliant but it's the best attempt at this I've had so far.

Tim - It's great! It's different from the usual ladybird shot which makes it special and you have caught the lift-off motion so well. I would have been thrilled to capture this one!
And your title made me laugh!

Nice capture

Dof is always hard on insects, they never tell you in advance what you'll need. But you caught the moment and that makes the story.

Looks like the gull-wing doors on a Lambourghini

This is great - good catch of such a tiny aeronaut!

Re: This is red wing two requesting permission for take off

Thanks, I have been trying this for a couple of years believe it or not. If you find an active Ladybird carefully place it on the top of the plant it is on. The majority of time they will always climb up further until they can not go on any higher, they will then always almost fly off. This is the clearest shot I have got to date. I have always been a millisecond early or late.

There's a challenge for you! LIF Ladybird in flight.
