I don't know if you were deliberately trying for the effect but the first pic has the feel of a 60's postcard about it t-up

I'm not into trains per se but they do, as you have demonstrated, provide a wealth of very colourful opportunies.

Great group

Roy

Some very nice image here but I do feel that the first one is a little overcooked.

Thanks all for your comments.

Strange re the first one - it may have been my pping but the original looks fairly similar - taken in the midday sun(ish) so perhaps needed a filter or another setting. I would be pleased to receive suggestions.

My suggestion is to leave it as it is as I quite like the retro look

Hi Barrie,

Lots of good stuff here and yes, I do like No 1 with its Velvia like saturation. Did you shoot in Normal or Vivid mode? I'd be inclined to leave it as it is but if you do want to try adjusting it maybe darken by about half a stop maximum in Levels.

But stop showing that lens off, Barrie, otherwise you'll be responsible for me spending more money!

Cheers,

Hello John -

Anne took that one and a few others elsewhere have said they like it too. The settings Anne used were:
Exposure Time = 1/800"
F Number = F5.6
Exposure Program = Aperture priority
ISO Speed Ratings = 400
Exif Version = Version 2.21
Date Time Original = 2008-06-30 12:49:15
Date Time Digitized = 2008-06-30 12:49:15
Components Configuration = YCbcr
Exposure Bias Value = -0.7EV
Max Aperture Value = F3.5
Metering Mode = Pattern
Light Source = unknown
Focal Length = 24mm

Normal and not vivid.
plus a little tweeking from yours truly.

As for the lens I think the modern phrase is WICKED.

Thanks very much Peter - not a steaming day unfortunately. Although having said that it gave both Anne and I the opportunity of getting some very good shots as it was not so crowded.
