More from Stamford/Burghley meet

Don't forget to upload your images if you were at the Stamford meet yesterday to the dedicated gallery here:

http://e-group.uk.net/gallery/showgallery.php/cat/820

Here's one from the deer park at Burghley, with the 150mm f/2 and nice and close thanks to an obliging deer

More later - busy day with visitors, so won't be until the evening.

Looking forward to more from everyone else!

Ian

Graydon or anybody who knows, what is this and what is the significance of the labelled 'buttons' on the surrounding benches?

Rod
Rod,

I knew roughley what this is about - Eleanor of Castile wife of Edward I.

Here's a little bit from the Stamford site and link with more information on it.

The cross is a symbol of the legendary love story between Eleanor of Castile and her husband Edward I, and relates to the Eleanor Crosses which Edward built to commemorate the queen's final journey back from where she died near Lincoln to her burial in London.
Stamford was one of 12 places where the crosses were built at the end of the 13th century, and all that remains of the original Stamford cross is a small stone fragment which can now be viewed in the town's museum.
Architect Wolfgang Buttress has worked closely with the town's schools, and students from Queen Eleanor Technology College, Stamford High School and New College Stamford have been included in the design process.
And more than 100 haiku poems by pupils from Queen Eleanor Technology College will be etched into bronze and included in Gateway project's paving ...

Re: More from Stamford/Burghley meet

Thanks to everyone who turned up. Matthew and I really enjoyed it especially meeting you all. We hope you all enjoyed the venu and had a good day to. From the few PMs I have had it seems-so (phew)

Also - thanks to Ian and Brian for all the kit they brought. I think everyone was pleased with that

Here's a couple from me though I missed the teddy-bears playing the weakest link.

A Fish - Carp I believe.

A Storm especially for Barrie - thanks for the photomatix profiles
