Re: Lancaster NX611 "Just Jane"

I've mentioned this before, but it's worth reminding for you aviation enthusiasts.

At Pitstone Green museum near Tring in Bucks., you can have a 'go' of a Lancaster. It's a full size and authentic reproduction of the fuselage section from the leading edge of the wing. You can sit in the pilot's seat, switch the mags on and 'start' each engine (you can even shout "clear number one" etc. if you want!). Once 'started' you can operate the throttles to 'take off' speed. You get full sound effects. Provide your own flying helmet!

It's well worth a visit, though it's only open infrequently. Web site here:

No 5 of the new posts in B&W is superb and I prefer it to the colour, might also look good in Sepia - great shots of what looks like a really fun time.

Re: Lancaster NX611 "Just Jane"

Looks like an excellent set, Number 2 is perfect.

I'm sure the chap hanging out the side of the Lanc is Andy who I went to school with... If you tear the B&W of that one up a bit, you've got a cracking period looking photo.

Yes he is called Andy. He is part of the crew who operated the Lanc. Our pilot for the day.

Thanks Ian, I always like to give B&W a try on subject such as this. Starting to get more used to Silver Efex Pro.

Thought it was He hasn't changed much, and he'd probably say the same about me. His Grandparents own East Kirkby.

Thanks Derek

Re: Lancaster NX611 "Just Jane"

Thanks again for all the comments, we will never agree or answer the debate on colour and B&W. I like both and I do both partly for camera club comps.

One last image from the day or late evening.

Thanks this shot seems to have most peoples vote. The evening light was the best of the day. Suprising not many people were shotting that side of the aircraft.
