EPL-1 and 7-14 ZD

I used this combo a bit on a recent holiday. I have the Viltrox adapter rather than the Oly one. I was finding severe distortion (softness) at the widest end of the 7-14 as shown in the example below. Never had this with my E-3. Has anyone else had this problem?
I can't imagine that it is the adapter as all other lenses are fine including the 7-14 at longer FLs.
