Looks good edge to edge and exposure wise to me, how do you hold the set up, neck strap, no neck strap, or just without any grip or straps?

just in my hand, the grip give confidence as its quite deep so you have a good hold without having to hold it tightly.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

One from Yesterday I tried a block of 9 points, not very successful on this type of shot as most times focus was on the tall grass just below the bird .

up to now a cross of 5 points for BIF seems to be my overall good bet with a busy BG .
+ 1 tracking is my preferred setting

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Today at Lackford Lakes, Suffolk. I'm sure I could have got this with the EM1 MkII, but it's nice to know that the EM1X works OK.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

One from today EM1X 300f4pro+TC 1/1600 F5.6 ISO 1250 to be honest I had quite a few out of focus shots today the camera just would not focus it also showed a lot of shots in Portrait on the screen yet they were taken in Landscape.
I will reset the camera tomorrow as I had been changing a few settings so it could just be me .

Nice,

Is +1 one step towards slower or faster response? I never remember which is which.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Regarding this post above ( One from today EM1X 300f4pro+TC 1/1600 F5.6 ISO 1250 to be honest I had quite a few out of focus shots today the camera just would not focus it also showed a lot of shots in Portrait on the screen yet they were taken in Landscape.
I will reset the camera tomorrow as I had been changing a few settings so it could just be me )

I had the Aspect ratio set on auto, turned it off ok now and I think the reason for quite a few OOF shots is the Owl coming towards me meant that at +1 when I lost it -it did not pick it up fast enough when I got on it again this is more likely my fault for not being able to keep on it I will try +2 to make the camera faster so when I do lose it it will pick it up when I get back onto it .
I do think +1 is best when the bird is going slightly across the frame rather than towards and at the same time up and down hunting.
Rob.
