Data Protection (GPDR) - does it reduce our rights?

Does anyone know whether the recent GPDR regulations have any impact on our rights in the UK to take photos from public places which include images of people?

I've had a poke around on the web and found a mixture of ambiguous, unclear, conflicting and seemingly uninformed/ authoritative sources.

Re: Data Protection (GPDR) - does it reduce our rights?

GDPR only really applies if you're holding databases with people's personal details in them. It's targeted at business, not individuals. I really don't think GDPR has an impact on private photographers.

A bigger impact on photography IMHO is the burgeoning movement of what we think of as public spaces into private hands with the likely heavy curtailing of our right to do things in those places (including taking photographs).

It might make it harder to publish the photographs you do take.
