Anyone one else getting the "Not Secure" Warning Triangle in the browser address bar for this site?

Re: "Not Secure" Warning Triangle

It's because the site is still running on HTTP, not HTTPS. Google's July update to Chrome started flagging all HTTP sites as "not secure". TBH, Ian needs to sort this. Google also severely down-lists HTTP-only sites in its search results and I suspect in time they will add more restrictions. Maybe one day they'll stop allowing it altogether.

Thanks for the explanation Paul, I vaguely remembered something like that but not the detail.

Re: "Not Secure" Warning Triangle

There was a thread about this a while ago. It doesn't need to be secure as it's not a business taking orders and payments. That said, for the reasons Paul explained it would be a good idea to change it to HTTPS but nobody need worry about it so long as they don't post any personal details. FWIW Firefox is not flagging it even after its (Firefox) recent security improvements.

Richard,
Actually Firefox 63.0.1 is showing it as questionable
e-group_status.JPG
Click on the thumbnail above and you'll see it reports:- "Connection not encrypted".

Re: "Not Secure" Warning Triangle

Fair comment Chris but that requires one to deliberately look at the Page Info whereas some other browsers use a flag on the page you're viewing. Firefox does flag pages with content blocking or tracking attempts though .

Re: "Not Secure" Warning Triangle

I'm getting it, as of a week or two ago, on all my regular photographic forum sites and on others, such as insect identification ones. On FM Macro it goes red when I enter anything, such as a reply (also happening here right now).

This is when I access the website via url shortcuts, on my PC Desktop, established years ago. I don't see the Google involvement in this case.

Slightly ironic given that it is an advertisement itself

That would be like the Asian sounding chap that cold called me yesterday to say they could offer a solution to cold callers. “What like you” I said? ‘Click’ went the phone at his end! Wuckfit!

Ha!
Cold-calling seemed to have gone away for the past few months, but we've had an outbreak over the last week. I need to find that klaxon again.

Re: "Not Secure" Warning Triangle

Yes it seems they have started again. It seems I have been in a number of car accidents in the last week! I am now getting calls to get me compensation. I went with one asking was that when I was hit by the bus and immediately the standard message changed to a gentleman very keen to assist me. On asking the company name as I am registered with the TPS he lost interest.
