Panasonic Leica 100-400mm lens

This Panasonic 100-400 lens is just over two months old. Purchased From Panamoz and will come with the balance of their three year warranty.
I bought the lens for a trip to Spain as it was a good deal lighter with the Oly EM1ii than my Nikon D500 and 80-400 Nikkor.
Now Im back Im using the Nikon gear for bird shots and the Olympus for everything else so no longer require the 100-400.
Price 1000 includes RMSD. Would prefer though to meet purchaser rather than post if possible.

Does that mean you changed your mind and decided to keep it or have you sold it elsewhere?

Re: Panasonic Leica 100-400mm lens

From what I've seen recently it's probably a wise choice. I'm beginning to regret not getting one myself at the Photo Show when they were selling them at a bargain price.

Re: Panasonic Leica 100-400mm lens

If I remember correctly they were 999.99. Hence my regret . At the time I was also offered one by our local Jessops for 1100 if I bought an em1 mk2 from them. They all seem to be around 1299 now. I think I'm going to wait and see if Amazon have them on a lightening sale some time. That's how I got my 40-150.

Re: Panasonic Leica 100-400mm lens

I've seen them for 950, but are always sold virtually instantly.

I'm tempted and have had a couple of test runs at shows & shops

The problem for me is that the 75-300 is perfectly good for my needs.

Re: Panasonic Leica 100-400mm lens

Jury is still out on mine. Ive been out again today with it on the EM1ii and yet again Ive been disappointed with the whole package for BIF. Just need Olympus to improve their focus tracking and it might then encourage me to use it more. As it is, when I do any serious bird or Aviation stuff it gets left at home and the Nikon kit comes out. That is a lot heavier but much more consistent results.

BreezeG it might be worth you contacting Jonathan Saull for aviation tips or Andy Elliott for BiF help. Jonathan did the Olympus talk and gave us loads of great tips at Duxford recently and Andy ran the excelent Fens Falconry session a few years ago and occasionally frequents this forum.

Re: Panasonic Leica 100-400mm lens

Graham if the 75-300 is perfectly good for you then you don't have a problem and are much richer . Unfortunately my 75-300 got pinched and I eventually got a 40-150 plus 1.4TC that never really replaced it. I definitely miss that long zoom but it always seemed a bit slow and soft to me. Although looking at the quality of some of the 75-300 shots you and Ron (Olybirder) are posting maybe I should give one a second chance?

John,
My recollection is that the Photography Show price was 1099 (that was what the folks on the Panasonic stand said that they were selling for on the LCE & Calumet stands - on the Monday).

Graham,
I'm hoping (& have requested) Olympus produce a m43 90~250 F4 Pro lens - which I think would be very popular with sports and wildlife 'togs. Hope they are listening
