I think the earliest we'll see an E-M1ii will be Photokina in September although I am now hearing that top end camera lifecycles may be extended to 4 years, so September 2017...

Incidentally, although the Pen F may look like an E-P5 replacement, the E-P5 remains a current model for now.

Ian
For me that would suit me fine 'cause that would also mean some more FW updates perhaps & spare me the GAS since that would likely be all I could get/have at this point, although somehow I would be surprised if the E-M1-II didn't come this September 2016.

Question Re: The new PEN-F proves beauty has no need for DSLR beasts

Ian
Both the E-M1 & PEN-F are specified in using TruePic VII image processor, so is there actually a difference in the processors or is that the same & the memory buffer faster & larger instead?

I thought I also read that the E-M1 was the only one to get Focus Stacking as it was the only one with a large enough buffer, so is it possible they could do more for it in FW? I would assume that not much more if the E-M1 II is coming this September 2016 though.

Ian
You're not the only one to suggest that. A certain Simon leaked some details before the release with this comment (not in perfect English).

The Sensor is from Sony & it is a Good 20mpx sensor. More i can't tell you.

(In answer to a query on the IQ) That means, the Image quality is better than em 5 II, but in dynamic pictures out of EM-1 are not worse if you compete them to pen f. So, the Sensor is Not bad, but has not the expected big step. But all in all the best mft body you can buy until october 2016.

Metro article 5/2/16 by cliff scrivens, on Flickr

I saw this on fri. In the METRO free paper, it looks like a very tough market.
All the cameras look very good, but I wonder if the after sales service can match that of Olympus, look at service plus and what Olympus has done with firmware updates to the E-M1 For example and I suspect any day now they'll give us a silent shutter for the EP5 any day now...

I'd love to have Silent Shutter on the EP-5. When used with the OI.Share it makes it a really good "stealth" shooter.

Re: The new PEN-F proves beauty has no need for DSLR beasts

Anyone else read Steve Huff's over the top review of the Pen-F?

http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2016/0...view-just-wow/

One thing is clear - this camera is a JPEG shooter's dream. Pity they abandoned the discreet, flip out screen though. That would also have made it a street shooter's dream.
