Lovely Alf. I'm heading up that way myself next month so will be hopefully experiencing the view personally!

Both very nice but I especially like that first one. Interesting aspect ratio you chose for it.

I like the square format for landscape photography, it helps evoke a tranquil mood. Alf has certainly used it here to great effect.

Re: Bumburgh castle sunrise

The square format comments are interesting guys. I've noticed recently that cropping a couple of my shots to square on editing worked nicely. I hadn't thought much about it except that they looked better. I've tended to avoid a square format for landscapes so far thinking they were better landscape or portrait but will definitely try it out. Thanks for the insight guys.

Re: Bumburgh castle sunrise

Nice shots Alf, particularly #1, the light is marvellous. It's a justifiably popular spot for photographers. Also good for Purple Sandpipers at the right time of year

Re: Bumburgh castle sunrise

Take a look at Charlie Waite's landscape work Phill, all done in square format.

Btw I just noticed the typo in the thread title. Would a mod like to correct it as I cannot unsee it now?

I saw purple sandpipers at Seahouses where we stayed. It was different for me to shoot the sea in teh morning.
