Re: Warwick in the Rain

Everything about this is great - the subject, composition, light, exposure, muted colours. The only thing I find distracting is the vertical dark line (pipe?) on the background building, which intersects with the umbrella.

Yes Paul, that's much better. What do you think?

Re: Warwick in the Rain

Thats just next door to where I take Mrs Walti for Nursey training courses!

I can't tell whether it's an improvement as you've removed the original... but it looks very good to me!

Re: Warwick in the Rain

How obliging it was for the owner to remove the down pipe and for the model to agree to the shot being taken again!
I do not like photo manipulation beyond the basic adjustments such as contrast or mild dodging and burning, but removing or adding stuff in a photo is off limit for me. I would say the original (now sadly removed) was authentic, warts and all and leaves a lasting memory. Ps in the modified version the remnant of the dp is visible, I'm conscious because I know it was there in the first place.
My 4d, Paul. Hope you don't mind.

Re: Warwick in the Rain

Steve - I appreciate your input. I always do!

I know that you don't like photo manipulation, but I have a different view. For me, all that matters is the end result. I understand that if I were doing photo-journalism or natural history then accuracy would be paramount, but all I'm trying to do is to produce an image that conveys some mood, emotion, aesthetics - whatever you call it. I don't care whether it reflects reality or not.

I do agree though that the edit was rather rushed. There are indeed a few artefacts of the edit remaining. I need to go back and clean it properly.

I appreciate that Paul.

Good subject to ground, by the way.

Re: Warwick in the Rain

I may be wrong, of course - it was just an opinion!
