The Road To Diabaig

As IainMacD mentioned in an earlier thread (see 'Where Eagles Dare') the Iain/Stoates show was back on the road this weekend with another trip to the NW Scottish Highlands. As Iain posted from our first location here is an image from our final stop. We had taken the road to Diabaig in Torridon to scout out a sunset location but made a planned stop at a small lochan along the way. Loch an t-Sithein sits out of view, a couple of hundred feet above the road. Having made the fairly steep ascent we both realised the potential of where we were, with stunning views to the south and west. The downside was having spent nearly an hour shooting south it was still over an hour until sunset and it was bitterly cold in a biting wind. Rather than descend back to the car then have to climb up again we decided to find some 'shelter' and wait it out; this was our reward, a quite beautiful sunset looking from our elevated position across Lochs (in order) Diabaigas Airde, a'Mhullaich, Diabaig and Torridon over the tip of Raasay towards the NE coast of Skye in the distance.

Re: The Road To Diabaig

You certainly discovered a fantastic viewpoint and did it full justice by making sure you was there at the right time. Often research and planning are the two most important factors of landscape photography.

"A hundredth of a second here, a hundredth of a second there even if you put them end to end, they still only add up to one, two, perhaps three seconds, snatched from eternity." ~ Robert Doisneau
