Red Kites

‘Twas a cold and sunny morning and the juvenile birds were out having fun but getting tired.
Although wrapped up to keep warm I ended up having blocks of ice for feet and as usual no complaints from Anne, she seems to love the excitement of photographing these lovely looking birds.

Re: Red Kites

Great shots Barrie!

Last summer we were coming back from Stokenchurch towards West Wycombe, when we saw a large gathering of Kites in the distance. As we drove nearer we saw that they were swooping down into a roadside cafe car park. It looked like the owners had thrown out food for them (bread I think). There must have been about 30 of them.

Re: Red Kites

Hi Jim –

Way back in the past someone on e-group mentioned Stokenchurch and Anne and I visited the area and cafe. Unfortunately our journey was not very fruitful.

We had some shopping to do in Chesham yesterday and the sunny conditions brought out the birds, many seemed to be young due to size and not gaining much height due presumably to the lack of strength in the wings.

Thanks Mark, Huw and Andrew

Re: Red Kites

Wow, how good are those shots Barrie, I'm envious. Were they shot with the 40-150 with tc?

I agree
All you have to do is find a couple of weak juveniles on L Plates.
