Motorcycle in Wales

Okay, this is actually my brother's bike. And seeing as he lives in Germany, and doesn't get across that often, when he asks if I can photograph it for him, I'm going to say yes.
Of course, I'm going to treat him exactly the same as a client, as family can be the worse critics.

Full walkthrough now available here.

Re: Motorcycle in Wales

The reflection and low viewpoint add extra interest to the shot. I like that a lot Michael.

Re: Motorcycle in Wales

I've shared this thread link (on FB) with my cousin in North Wales. I'll see what response I get, but I suspect he'd have to like this one though.

It was shot in Mostyn, just outside Hoywell, North Wales. Your cousin will likely know the location.

I'm wondering if I should put a full walkthrough up.

Sky looks like North Wales, moody and dark.

Love the shot, reflection is an add on I think...........

Nah, all as shot.
If you're not convinced, I can set up the raw for download.
The low viewpoint ensures the bike is visible in the water, and lighting the bike above ambient ensures the reflection.
Very simple to do.

We always appreciate a walkthrough, it adds value to any image and is a valuable learning tool.

Great picture btw, it brings back memories of my late father's classic motorcycle/sidecar combo.

Sorry, did not mean the reflection was added,

I meant that the shot without the reflection stood well on its own, the extra bite was the reflection.

Sorry not to be clear, bit early for me at the mo...

LMAO

Believe me, I didn't take offence.

I do get questions regarding elements of my images, and as to whether they are added in post.
My philosophy is to try and get as much done in shot as possible. That's the bit the client's are happy to pay for. They don't value the concept of post processing, as it's an "invisible" service.

We had a guest speaker at our local photography club last week, demonstrating processing techniques. One of his examples was removing the washed out sky from a landscape and replacing it with a much more dramatic and colourful alternative from a completely different shot. He actually made quite a decent job of it but all the time I was wincing, thinking "No! This can't be right!"

Re: Motorcycle in Wales

Great picture. As an aside is this outfit from Germany? I always thought that sidecars were fitted on the footpath side.

Good spot.

My brother has lived in Germany since the mid eighties.
As it happens, he's moving back to the UK this summer, but the bike will be sold before leaving Germany.
