Nene Valley Park

A nice day out with friends at Nene Valley Park.

Trouble getting close to the heron.

This is a 100% crop from the diminutive 40-150R.

The terns were a lot more friendly coming to take food thrown for them. The little 40-150R again.

I don't usually post pictures of bugs but the colour was out of the ordinary and caught the eye.

Nice view of the lake.

And again.

Swans, of course....

and geese, here are the goslings.

An interesting carving.

Finally the boating lake (dingy, pedalo, etc).

Re: Nene Valley Park

A nice varied set from what must have been a very pleasant outing.

That lens performs well for a "budget lens" (as do all the Oly budget range).

My favourite is the Owl Carving. I think the red bug is a Common Red Soldier Beetle. I'm afraid your Tern is actually a juvenile Black Headed Gull but your shot shows nicely that their heads are actually chocolate brown.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, I did try and give a flavour of everything on offer so people would know what to expect if they were to visit. There was also a very nice cafe.

Thank you for your expertise Peter. I don't know one bird from another and nor it seems do my friends!

Re: Nene Valley Park

It is really great to see this post from you after all the time you spend commenting on other people's images, which is much appreciated. That is a nicely varied set and it looks like a great day out. My favourite is the owl carving within the tree trunk.

Someone once said that if you have any doubts about a photograph then it isn't good enough and should be thrown away. I have no doubts... they are all worth throwing away. Part of the truth is that I havn't spent any time sorting out recently and the other half is that for most of the year I haven't been anywhere photogenic. Still, there is a backlog which I am going through.
