Question Technical Question

On the base of the E-3 there is a small round recess in front of the tripod mounting thread. Can anyone tell me what make of tripod mount has a pin that will engauge with this hole to stop the camera rotating on the tripod mount when in portrait mode.

Thanks

Re: Technical Question

Most Manfrotto Quick Release plates have them, for instance the 200PL-14

Re: Technical Question

Interesting as I have a number of mounts that have the "hole" for the pin, but never seem to line up with the pin on the camera,

Re: Technical Question

I recently bought two of these third party plates to replace the 'proper' Manny one that I lost in the snow in January . Neither has a pin but I do admit that one would be useful to stop the rotation (I don't like to do the clamp too tight).
I suppose that if the hole(s) are threaded one could insert a tiny bolt of the same size which would do the same thing. Will have to see if this is possible.

Re: Technical Question

Really Right Stuff do both an ordinary and an L-plate for the E3. The 'ordinary' plate has a small lip on the back edge - to prevent rotation.

I've got the L-plate - which is really useful and is permanently attached to my E3. It's so long since I attached it that I can't remember whether or not it has an anti-rotation peg - it certainly never slips!

See here for more info:-

Re: Technical Question

Chris,

Thanks for the link. When I first read your reply "L-Plate" for the E-3 it brought a smile to my face as I imagined a BIG RED L stuck on my back

Interesting but expensive

Thanks
