Jersey Air Show 1999 with OM2_SP

Short holiday in Jersey, driving past the airfield I saw these ready to take off. I just parked by the perimeter fence - no bother!

Shot on Sensia 200 OM2-SP lens was probably my Zuikp 65-200

Been looking through some of my transparencies colours are wonderful not very well produced here...

I thought I had done a decent cloning job. Dust spots on slides - now thats real nostalgia!

The colours might have better if I had thought to use the DxO Filmpack3....

When I had the OM2SP (and an OM1 "back up"), I often thought I should get an OM4Ti, but I always concluded that I don't need it as jewellery and I really doubt if I would make better pictures with it - so I stuck with the OM2SP and enjoyed it.

I now find myself in the same position. I really doubt whether I could take better pictures with any of the new 16MP Olys. I may well upgrade, but for now I am happy with what I have.

Just shows what can be achieved with an enthusiasts film camera. I still have my OM-1n in working order

Re: Jersey Air Show 1999 with OM2_SP

I've still got my OM1 purchased in '76, 4 OM2n and a 4T. The 4T has the common shutter fault where the cords connecting the shutter blinds can cast a shadow on the film but the rest are in working order.

My 4/3 bodies are set up as digital OM2 and most of the time this year I've been using MF primes rather then my 4/3 glass.

Re: Jersey Air Show 1999 with OM2_SP

When I got my E1 + 14-54 + 50-200 + FL50 in 2004 I had already had a number of lesser digital cameras running alongside my OM film kit for five years and that is when I decided to sell off all the film stuff.

No regrets about that, hopefully it all got to someone who enjoys it.

Modern evaluative metering is very reliable, but now and again, just for fun, I still work the OM way - working in M and getting exposure reading by spot metering off tarmac or grass...

I love the Om 2sp and often felt I wanted a 4Ti but as you say it would made no difference a better tripod would have though.

I haven't been to Jersey for years but the Airport was great for taking photos in the 1980's. I presume that access to the roof & perimeter fence is probably a no-no now!

I too have not been there for a few years now.

I just had a look on Google maps and the little lane I took the pictures from is still there. Yellow lines - probably.

The lane, called "Mont Fondan" (according to Google) is on the SW corner of the airport. The lane runs north until it gets to the perimeter fence then it turns sharp left, heading W. I parked on the roadside and shot from that corner.

As they say, nostalgia ain't what it used to be.
