CF card, missing space

I'm a newbie on this site and this is my 1st post.

I've got an E-620 with a hama 4 GB cf card

Originaly i was getting room for approx 1400 shots, now I have only room for 180.

I usually get the laptop to delete frames after uploading (lately uploading on to 2 laptops before deletion.

On upload on the 620 i select usb, storage, click ok, and via windows auto play I select upload to pc. and click on delete after importing on the small window.

I've also deleted shots on the camera which still seems to only open 2/3 of the space cleared

I've tried via the 620 accesing via menu , card set-up, all erase, yes, pressing ok. I get busy for about half a second, then a click from the camera.

Still 180 frames avalable

Any ideas ? I've had the camera for a year though due to illness I've only had the chance to use it this past month. up to which I've only taken about 700 frames, past 6 weeks We've averaged about 160 frames every 2-3 days.
Is this a glitch, am i missing something, or do I just need a new card ?

thanks

Re: CF card, missing space

Do you have the camera setup to capture RAW + Jpeg, instead of just Jpeg files?

Re: CF card, missing space

That's correct then. About 1500 for jpeg only would be right also depending on compression setting.

Re: CF card, missing space

As has been pointed out - if you are shooting RAW+LSF jpeg 180 will be about right for a 4gb card in the 620

Re: CF card, missing space

Thanks for the help folks.

Have reset the record to just jpeg. have gone on 1st menu option, data option and reset that to LF (but can't see LB ?) so have got 609 frames avalable which should easly be ok for a days usage.

Can't remember fiddling with that setting, although I have had let the kids take a bunch of shots and just showed them the playback, basic flash and ev adjust via the +/-. So might have been me ?
