Photography show in March
Anyone intending going this year? I am thinking of booking air tickets for Monday 23rd March, but would like to meet up with forum members. Last year I was slightly late and missed some of the folks there. Can you give a rough idea of when you might be there for a meet up. Ian I hope to see you and Mark again. Ed

Re: Photography show in March
In case anyone else, like me, was slightly confused about which photography show everyone was talking about, I assume it's this one at the NEC!
http://www.photographyshow.com I can be a bit fick, but I also go to quite a few assorted photography shows... ![]() I hope to be there.

Oops sorry good point, it is just that we do not have any over here and it is the only one I get info on. The date was bit of a clue?

Re: Photography show in March
Follow up to previous, I now have tickets booked for the 8-15am flight to Birmingham 23rd March so will be at the Photography Now Exhibition most of the day; hope to meet up with other members will try to sort times etc closer to the day. Big fundraiser to allow me to have the price of a 40 - 150mm 2.8 in my hot sweaty hand on the day! Have booked my ticket in (free).

Re: Photography show in March
Unfortunately I've got work commitments on Monday & Tuesday, so I'll be there on the Saturday (actually the presentations look more interesting on that day to me, but I suppose it may be busier).
Delighted to meet up if anyone's around.

Re: Photography show in March
The last show I went to was many many years ago and all I remember is crowds of slightly smelly old men with long lenses desperate to get a shot of some model in a bikini and in the queue to get being filled with rumours of amazing discounts that all seemed to be sold out...
Have things changed much, and is it a good place to actually buy or just a day out playing with some gear you can't really afford ? Going on the fact that several members here are going I would imagine so but what can you tell me ? Oh, and my jaded view of shows is slightly tongue in cheek BTW ! |

Re: Photography show in March
I promise to wash before setting out!
I haven't been to one of these before, but the Digital Imaging show at the NEC Hilton last year was worthwhile: I went to two good presentations/workshops, bought a Spider 4 Pro cheaper than I have seen it online plus had a tutorial in its use, tried out some Blackrapid strap options and bought one for a decent price, and played with a GX7 and several lenses (including the 42.5 Panny) and decided I wouldn't be investing. I also watched Damien Magillicuddy (?sp) directing a model shoot, which was really interesting, and spent a useful half hour examining a load of images on different printing papers to help decide which options would suit my purposes. There seem to be some really good presentations in March '15 - especially on the Saturday (street, safari, travel etc).

Re: Photography show in March
So thats where I know you from Mark..!
No, the show I am talking about may just as easily have been a hifi show, and both were way back in the early 80's, so I am sure you have freshened up since then.... If I am going to go it would be good to watch a presentation but also as I have still not yet got a 40-150 f2.8 (this time of year always seems to bring financial problems that devour any savings, and this year has been no different) so would be very tempted if I knew that it might be possible to save something on one of these ! |

Re: Photography show in March
I shall be going on the Monday unless something enforces a change.
For those asking about this show I have been for the last few years and really enjoy it. Lot's of demo's etc. going on, some of which you have to book and/or pay for, but also loads of images and kit to enjoy. Some bargains to be sure but it's more about being able to look at things properly and compare. This year I shall be looking at bags for m4/3 as I want to try them out before buying and most shops don't have the range except for online or those too far away. Last year we also had a mini meet up on the Oly stand, I met wee man (Ed) for instance, which is worth going for. Looks like we are heading for a similar meet up this year. Hec
