ARGHHH ! KeithL you have gone over the wall with Janet KP Anne W

Maybe JC should go on an electric shock treatment Social Speaking PC course Now that would make funny TV !

Don't tell me you don't like my ideas for new presenters...?

Perhaps Clarkson (and May and Hammond) should go through a Mao style self-denunciation on TV, followed by viewers voting on a suitable set of punishments. Like cleaning the loos for a month in a shanty town in Argentina - filmed for TV, of course.

Re: Top Gear ? New Presenters ?

What about Sir Chris Hoy - just started racing cars and did a Documentry a while ago about Colin McRae. Big petrol head & when he has been presenting on TV always came across well.

Another BBC story that has been floating around is a directive that all panels on BBC must contain at least one woman, be it Have I got news for you or Question Time. Chances are if they do change the presenters at least one is probably going to be female - lots of good female racing drivers out there, just don't know why they don't make it into the big time.

Doubt we will see Susie Wolff - committed to Williams / F1.

But whoever it is, please don't give us a member of the PC brigade. We have enough bleeding heart liberals in the media without them running Top Gear. They'll be extolling the virtues of driving a Prius and telling us how to get maximum MPG.

No-o-o-o, don't think they are "confrontational" enough.

Prius? Never heard of Tesla? No petrol engine and goes like the proverbial!

Re: Top Gear ? New Presenters ?

The Radio Times piece was written by Tim Dowling, of Fantasy TV fame . Personally I think TG would be dead without its three current presenters. If Clarkson goes I think the other two will follow, and so will most of the viewers.

Maybe it's time, Richard. TG seems to be trying to hang on by getting more and more clownish lately, so perhaps a new format and new presenters - if done well enough - could kick it off anew.

I agree. Most TG viewers do so because Clarkson and Co are so outrageous. Perhaps it is an antidote to the boring, PC, imported television that we are spoon fed nowadays?

And sometimes Clarkson hits the nail right on the head, as in this clip about Jag drivers. My wife reckons Clarkson describes me to a tee!

Clarkson on Jag drivers.

Yes; miles per charge when driving to and from the organic cooperative to buy lentils, and an eco friendly beard trimmer.

We have missed you too Chevvy. It's good to have you back.

As for the beard trimmer, I was thinking of some form of hand operated gadget, but it would have to be made from recycled Aga's!

Alexei Sayle does a small motoring related column. He could be fun without being stupid.
