Re: Olympus Workspace - Replacement for OV3

All working fine now...like the fact I can view all my RAW files on a slideshow first before I work with them in Affinity...

That was how it was until I disabled (unchecked or unticked) the GPU selection, then it has been fine since.

Re: Olympus Workspace - Replacement for OV3

Mine is greyed out. If I tick the box to enable it tells me it doesn't have enough video memory - I have 1GB and need at least 2GB apparently.

The cooling fan is getting noisy on my Nvidia GeForce GT620 so I'm keen to know what GPUs people are having problems with so I don't buy one as a replacement.

It would be helpful if anyone having trouble could let us know what Workspace says in "Tools>Options>Graphics Processing Unit"

Or if you're not having issues what you have too

Thanks

Re: Olympus Workspace - Replacement for OV3

I have a laptop with an embedded "GeForce GTX 770M (3072 MB)" which seems to be working fine.

I also wish it would not keep asking me to register. I know that I can click the "Don't show this screen" box to stop this but do not know if this means that I will "receive announcements and other important information about your product". If I log into MyOlympus (https://my.olympus-consumer.com/uk) and look at my registered products then Olympus Viewer Software is there but not Olynpus Workspace.

I do miss the seperate "RAW development" and "JPEG" tabs that were in OV3 as I found these offered a bit more control over exposue, contast, sharpness, and saturation.

Re: Olympus Workspace - Replacement for OV3

There is a saying that I can't help myself from using, "If all else fails, read the instructions". In this case I found out myself as I posted earlier in this thread, but if one goes the to the Help files it has this in the settings section on the Graphics Processing Unit, as seen on page 77 of the PDF file (I think this Help file is added in the first update of Olympus Workspace, my memory fades quickly).

Quote:
Note!
If there is an error in the saved image, turning the Graphics Processing Unit off may resolve the issue.
Which is what I did on my Win7 laptop & it worked for me. Also, read the Olympus dialogue in the image I posted earlier (not referring to the text over the image I added) on page 5 of this thread.

If you have registered your camera then you are already registered. Just click "Don't show this screen" & relax. Also, in the drop-down from the Help tab there is "Send Usage Conditions". You can select Do Not Send.

Have you tried cleaning the dust off the cooling fans? With a large build-up, it can cause fan noise, and unbalance them. Same with the rest of the case fans too obviously.

Oh yes - I give it all a blast with compressed air now and then.

I think that after several years running 8hrs a day most days the bearings are just getting tired. I wasn't too disappointed, I'd been considering a new GPU anyway so OW and Lightroom might get a boost and finding the source of an intermittent grinding noise has stopped me worrying about other faults.
