New Features for Photoshop CC 2018

The new features for the new Photoshop CC 2018 are very well described by Julieanne Kost at:

Re: New Features for Photoshop CC 2018

One issue when upgrading is that the 2018 version may not 'find' all your plugins, most notably the Nik ones, and individual Topaz filters. You need to copy the plugins folder content from your old version to the 2018 Plugins folder, to get them 'back'. I seem to remember it did this with the 2015 to '17 upgrade as well, so it's obviously "a feature"!

Re: New Features for Photoshop CC 2018

Interesting I just updated my Photo shop yesterday which is a subscription photographers version that was bundled with Lightroom. I noticed it was PS 2014? Never really noticed it before and only use it occasionally but I did think that having the subscription version if would keep up with the updates and go to 2017? At least it now reads my EM1 Mk2 raw files but it still says 2014?

Do you have the Adobe Creative Cloud app installed and is it up to date? Make sure that this is current and it should give you messages when new versions of the main applications and plugins from the Adobe Store are available and the option to install them.

Yes I thought I did. Will go and check it out. I just assumed it would do as you said and prompt me to update. I can't remember it doing that and I just never thought about it to be honest.

Click the three dots on the CC App manager and select check for app updates.

All my plugins except NIK were dealt with including Topaz. I'll have to re-install Nik but that is easy and free so not a problem other than minor inconvenience.

As with the LR update, performance is noticeably improved especially on startup and closing which means using CTRL-E in LR to open and image in PS is much faster.

Re: New Features for Photoshop CC 2018

Thanks Invicta and Ian. I finally managed to update my PS software after a bit of stalling so thought I'd update LR too. However it said my ageing pc wasn't up to the upgrade . Oh well at least I'm on PS 2017 now.
So almost sorted can't read mk2 files in LR though? I'm assuming there is a way round this so more googling!

Re: New Features for Photoshop CC 2018

Hmm just read the other thread on LR updates and like Paul it would seem as a Win7 user currently i'm a bit stuck. So it looks like using LR is sadly off the table for me at the moment

Phil,
E-M1 mkII RAWs have been fully supported since the March 2017 update (i.e. LR 6.9, ACR 6.9).

Re: New Features for Photoshop CC 2018

That's interesting I got a message that my software at LR 5 was upto date. No option to upgrade to a LR 6.9 hmm curious.
