Re: HDEW Cameras

I have used HDEW once and it was a good experience and I would have no hesitation in using them again. I have not had to return anything so cannot comment on that side of the service - they are 'grey imports' so no Olympus warranty.

Re: HDEW Cameras

I bought a 300/4 from them. When it developed a problem it was quickly fixed under their guarantee. I would use them again.

Re: HDEW Cameras

I have bought several cameras and lenses from them and never had a problem. They issue their own warranty for three years with a reputable company doing the repairs but again I have never had any problems so do not know how well it works out in practice. I will happily use them again though check their prices against standard suppliers for every item as they are not always cheaper although often you can save several hundred pounda.

Re: HDEW Cameras

I researched as well as I could before buying, particularly the details of their warranty, and bought an E-M5 MkI from them aboiut 3 years ago. Purchase was straightforward and haven't had to use the warranty.

Re: HDEW Cameras

Like the others I too have had a good experience with HDEW Cameras. The items I have bought from them have all been trouble free so I have not had to claim on their guarantee. Delivery is prompt and they seem helpful and well informed.

Re: HDEW Cameras

Dave - I have just bought a 14-150 from them at a silly price (under 300). delivered on time and well packed via FedX. The only complaint is that when I asked them if the Hood was included (which it is on 'full priced' version), they said not - so went and bought a separate hood - it came with Hood - anyone want an LH-61C still in its wrapping, for 21 inc postage?
Apart from that see no problem with them.

Re: HDEW Cameras

I bought my 12-40 and 75-300 from them. Very good prices and no complaints from me. I would use them again.

Re: HDEW Cameras

Worth buying the 7-14 Pro as it looks a good price, unless I can buy one used in good nick..

Re: HDEW Cameras

Following the news about Bowens, I looked up HDEW Cameras at Companies house. Their accounts are freely available. Draw your own conclusions.

This post is a little misleading.

If you look at the T&Cs on their website here http://www.hdewcameras.co.uk/terms.asp You will see (at the bottom) they are registered as Validhirst Ltd Trading As HDEW Cameras and have a perfectly valid set of published accounts. https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/c...filing-history

The dormant company, HDEW Cameras LTd was set up by the same directors some time ago but they have for whatever reason chosen to not use it. There is nothing wrong with this, anyone can set up a company but does not have to actively use it.

Regards.

Sapper asked about this dealer in his opening post. I have been careful not to write anything good or bad about them. If you are unhappy with my post, by all means make a complaint and ask for a moderator to delete my comments.

I appreciate that and I don't think that there is any need to complain or ask for your post to be deleted. I'm sure you posted what you found in good faith with the intention of being helpful. However, Sapper did ask if "anyone had used this dealer" and all the other replies indicated that a number of members have and found the company quite satisfactory whilst following the link you posted produced information that could be taken to suggest there was something wrong with the company. I just wanted set the record straight regarding the legitimacy of this company.

Kind Regards.
