I think the point is that you don't need to be in to sign for the delivery, and you can collect from Argos at your leisure.

Waiting in all day for couriers who don't turn up is a real PITA!

Re: Ebay Click and Collect

eBay Click and Collect with Argos is dependent on the delivery method used by the seller, be it Royal Mail, Hermes, etc. My understanding is that the item doesn't go via eBay. Sellers get a code and the address of the Argos store nominated by the buyer. When the item is received by the Argos store and checked in an email (and even an SMS text message, of opted for) is automatically sent to inform the buyer that their item is ready for collection.

I think it's very good for a couple of reasons; firstly because it avoids the problem of missing a delivery that needs to be signed for or is too big to fit through the letter box. Secondly, it's an additional layer of delivery security. It's a fact of life that things still get lost in the post. I had an item I purchased lost when I returned it and I foolishly didn't use a tracked service. Items I bought have not turned up, too, though eBay is now very good at protecting buyers.

So if you have had one bad experience with eBay click and collect, I truly think you are unlucky and as can be seen from other testimony here, it's definitely worth persevering with.

When a delivery at Argos is signed for, that sends the email. At that stage, it is not in the Argos system. In fact, if a member of Argos staff does not meet the courier driver, or one cannot be found, the delivery seems to be dumped on the Argos premises and a signature is faked, and nobody at that branch of Argos knows that there has been a delivery. That is information from my local Argos C & C staff.

In the meantime, the customer, having received the email turns up at the branch they have specified.

Re: Ebay Click and Collect

I think since being taken over by Sainsburys, Argos is on a slippery downhill slope.

At one time if you were considering a purchase the Argos site was a good indication of the cheapest the item would be available from retail outlets. Now however, many items are being offered at full RRP with some as much as 15% higher. Most of the goods they sell now are out of date items that have been replaced by later updated versions. Ask the staff about it and they blame the manufacturer

Re: Ebay Click and Collect

I am sure there are gaps, where aren't they? But based in my experience eBay Click and Collect has worked extremely well, with no lots items and I use the service a couple of time a month on average.
