Lightroom use on two pcs, anyone do it?

Having recently bought a win10 laptop to upgrade from my old win7 desktop I was hoping i would be able to access my LR images from both computers. Googling this seems to show that having two user access is not as easy as i'd hoped. Anyone have any suggestions for the best way to do it or should i just abandon the previous LR catalogue and start again?

I use LR classic on two computers, but they never have linked. Thus I use them separately. My main computer does 99% of the work, but when I am away I use my Surface Pro with the other version of LR classic. When back home I transfer directories to my latest catalogue on the main computer. But the work is lost, other than the subdirectory of processed photos from the Surface...

That's the gist i was getting from Google yesterday. Sounds a bit poor of Adobe not to make it operate better.

Adobe subscription allows installation on as many PCs as you like - but the licence manager checks that it's active only on two when the apps start up. You can dynamically change which two.

If you use Adobe cloud, you can sync there and then share the photos on multiple machines. But you need a fast internet connection to make it usable.

LR Classic isn't really designed for use on multiple PCs. I recently got a nice W10 Dell laptop which runs it well for when I'm away. Unless you keep everything on an external drive and swap over keeping the same drive letter, it gets tricky. I've only created new temp catalogues on the laptop, which I then import into my main catalogue on the desktop later. This works fine if you are careful, and have backups before importing. It looks like Adobe will probably force us onto the cloud version at some point, which should make this easier, but at a cost. I still much prefer the Classic UI.
