Re: Forget "politics" - New rumours

It's been on the cards for a while. Wonder if it'll come with the 20Mp sensor? I would expect so, and also for it to have a watered-down version of the E-M1ii's PDAF focussing system. It might position it above the E-M5ii in some ways, but Olympus need to make it competitive with cameras such as the A6000 range which have these sort of AF capabilities and pixel counts.

Re: Forget "politics" - New rumours

Given the price points of the E-M1ii, E-M5ii, E-M10ii where would an an E-M10iii sit if it had some features from the E-M1ii (i.e. sensor & dual dast AF)? Price the E-M10iii too low and you will kill of the E-M5ii, price it too high and you may loose customers and that all important entry point. Its hard to see if there will be room in the lineup for a future E-M5 Mkiii.

Re: Forget "politics" - New rumours

Well, here's a view of what may be the main differentiators E-M10iii > E-M5iii > E-M1ii

E-M10iii:
- 20Mp with PDAF
- Good C-AF, but without the E-M1ii's bells & whistles
- Slow e-shutter readout (not like on E-M1ii)
- Limited e-shutter capabilities (no Pro Capture and such like)
- Relatively low frame rates
- No weather sealing
- No hi-res mode
- Pop-up flash
- No in-camera focus-stacking
- No battery grip option
- Old Pen battery
- 4k video
- Single UHS card slot
- Cheaper and lower-res viewfinder than E-M5iii and E-M1ii
- Same 5-axis IBIS as E-M10ii

E-M5iii
As E-M10iii, but adds:
- Weather sealing
- In-camera focus stacking
- Hi-res mode
- Improved ergonomics
- Battery grip option
- Enhanced viewfinder (maybe even better than E-M1ii)
- Bigger battery (maybe from E-M1ii)
- Slightly better IBIS (as in E-M1ii)
- No pop-up flash

E-M1ii
As E-M5iii, but adds:
- Faster e-shutter
- Higher frame rates
- Fancy stuff like ProCapture
- Bigger buffer
- Dual card slots
- More C-AF capabilities (Pre-MF, focus limiter)
- More rugged build

Most importantly, will there be a faux gold finish version with crystal glass embellishments and a chunky faux gold neck chain.

You forgot the genuine armadillo skin leather finish on the main body and the fun fashion decorative bezel on the lens with customised lens cap in matching colours.

That makes sense, they'd have to do a camouflage version for the North American market. I'm surprised no one has come out with camouflaged bird feeders so that the birds can't find them.

That's true, humans would walk into them but the birds would know the feeders were there and use them.

I can't remember what it was I saw a camouflaged version of a week ago but it was something ridiculous.
