Pen-F flash problem

Took delivery of mine a few weeks ago and it was absolutely lovely on a quick (light) trip to Switzerland, however I do have a problem with the flash that I am just getting round to testing.
Problem is that whatever setting I use absolutely no flash comes up. Yes I have turned it on (umpteen times) and I have printed out the relevant pages of the manual but no joy. Does anyone know if there is a secret method of activating the flash or should I just return it under guarantee?

A secondary question is can I test the camera itself with a FL36 or is that likely to harm it?

Thanks in advance

Roger

Re: Pen-F flash problem

Any Olympus FL is safe to use on the PEN-F

The FL‑LM3 Flash should work automatically in a dark room with the camera set to i-auto (provided of course you have switched it ON )

If all else fails, do a "Factory Reset".

Re: Pen-F flash problem

Did you push the flash all the way into the socket?
If you press the Right button on the 4 way controls on the back of the camera, the flash mode is shown. What did you set it to?
Try setting it to FULL and press OK.
Turn on the flash itself. Now half press and wait a little. Now press all the way.
If that still doesn't flash you have a problem.

Graham

Thanks for the info. I have now charged a couple of batteries and tested the FL36 on the PEN, with a quick test the exposures appear accurate so I just assume that the camera itself is OK. Yes I can confirm that I did switch it on, and gently cleaned the contacts but absolutely no joy. Personally I suspect the on/off switch and will have to contact the supplier (WEX) just hope that they do not ask for the camera itself to be returned.

Thanks for trying but absolutely nothing works (except the FL36) it will have to go back
