Re: My Journey

Evocative, impressive are words that describe this simple seascape, Mark.
The half buried 'bones' of a shipwreck is an apt metaphor for the sea beyond.

Re: My Journey

Bleak, but nice. Is that the remains of a ship?

Re: My Journey

Looking at Google Earth, I have found what I am sure is what I photo'd.

From above it really looks ship shape....

Coords are 51.673578882. and -4.263536272 (North and West)

When the weather calms down a bit, I intend to fly it with the drone. I cannot find a reference to it using Google, but will see what I might find with local knowledge.

Thanks for the post etc.....

Shipwreck or what?
by Mark Johnson, on Flickr

Non Oly picture I'm afraid. When Oly develop a drone...……….

This a better photo (closer) to the one above. Its certainly ship shape, but the structure looks more like a scaffolding affair. I wonder if it was a former dock structure. Cannot find anything on the web about it...……….

Re: My Journey

Interesting find.
It is there on Google Maps if you zoom in to the maximum in satellite mode.

Re: My Journey

Thanks for sharing an interesting picture and posts

From the alignment it looks very much like it would have been part of something like a sandtrap (groyne) preventing the stopping up of the Western dock at Burry port (Pembrey)

Google maps has (currently) a low tide picture

OS has (currently) a high tide picture

regards
Andy

Re: My Journey

Thanks for that info Andy. It's just a shell so to speak now, not trapping very much at all.

I made a video from the drone whic gives a better view of it all

https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...brey+Structure

youtube resolution is grim as I converted the video into an MP4..

Oddly cannot find any info on the web about it...
