Re: Windows 10 Codec for ORf

I have Windows 10 with the Creators update installed.

.ORF files from the E-M1 show as an image in windows explorer, .ORF files from he E-M5 II and E-M1 II only show an icon, when you try to open the icon using photos, the program states "it appears that we don't support this file format".

Ah, that box is there all the time for me. Maybe because Cortana is enabled?

Interesting. Seems like something changed after the E-M1 Mark 1...

Alas, No!

Downloaded and updated late last night. On my old E-5 raw files I can still see the images as thumbnails and can view the associated image in Windows Photos. With the E-M5 I still get my default program icon and if I try to open it in Windows Photos I get a message saying "It appears we don't support this file format."

Battling on...

Sorry, Dave. I posted my last before reading this. SNAP!

I have sent my report to Microsoft.

A excerpt from a chat with Microsoft.

Quote:
Thank you for waiting! upon checking the codec is not yet available for windows 10, but you can install third party image viewer to view .orf file you just need to get from their end. here's the link : http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_se...mercontact.asp

You are very much welcome Ivor, don't worry I will personally escalate this issue to my supervisor to expedite the process of creating the codec.

Me
Do you know when it will be available as part of a Windows update. Olympus tell me that they sent Microsoft the codec when the camera was released. (about 2 years ago)
09:45

Yeah for now its still on the process of trial and testing due to some incompatibility but don't worry sooner it will be available. and I will also escalate this issue just to remind our developers that may users are waiting for the codec.
Olympus haven't released the codec to customers, although I have asked them if they will. Both Canon and Nikon do.

Watch this space!

Re: Windows 10 Codec for ORf

Well oddly, it doesn't work for me; on my newly updated to Creators Edition PC over in Buxton, all orfs now display as a DxO icon.

My previous screenshot showed something of a random pattern

but now almost all orfs show as Icons, with the exception of a couple that were in the previous screenshot, though one (P5120270) has mysteriously changed from thumbnail to icon.
These are the only orf files I can find on theis pc that display as thumbnails at all, regardless of camera body from EP-1/2, E-3/5, EM-1/5.

The EM 5ii and (I think) EM 1 ii codecs are not yet released by Microsoft (see my previous).

Cheers,

What happens if you double click on the icon? This is how mine appears.

I can set the raw file to open in any of the programmes as default and the icon will change to that programme. We just have to wait for the codec to be released until we can preview the image in Windows explorer.

Re: Windows 10 Codec for ORf

I'm on Windows 10 Home version 1703 and can't see ORF from my E-M10 Mki in explorer.

"Photos" says "It appears that we don't support this file format"

Odd

Do you have Olympus Viewer installed? I wonder if the codec is installed with this by default?

I have OV3 installed and Windows 10 Creator will not handle my E-M10 MKII raw files so apparently not.

Regards.
