Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

This is the first time since getting the 300mm f4 that a zoom might have been useful. Being too close to a Pintail is not usually a problem but, try as I might, I couldn't get this one to fit, so a head shot it had to be.

E-M1 II and 300mm f4.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Ron

That is just why I have always bought the zooms but 90% of the time use them at full stretch. I had a number of times when I used the 300mm for a day that I wanted to zoom it. But the quality is better.

Have you tried turning it to portrait taking two side by side and stitching them?

But I'll take you word it is a pintail...even without the tail showing

Nice duck shot.

It's a Brambling Dave - a female, I think. A smashing bird and a very nice shot.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Thanks I couldn't decide from the RSPB bird site. Slightly annoyed I cut its tail off but it was only there for an instant.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Google images are really helpful for identifying birds when you are not sure Dave. Type in Brambling and see if there are any images which look like your bird. Mind you, they are not always identified correctly, so it is best to take an average from the results which turn up.

The birds are lovely and you are clearly getting good visitors.

I just wanted to suggest that the teacup may need a spring clean....

Alas it won't fit in the dishwasher...................

Does get cleaned every few days tho'...............

Yes I am lucky enough to get good visiting birds, 14 species during the RSPB garden bird watch, over 1 hour. This morning had sparrows, dunnock, all shades of tits, chaffs, song thrush, blackbirds, and a kite flew overhead!

I was exercising the 40-150mm + 1.4TC. Allows a faster shutter speed than my Pany 100-400. Latter is still the better birding lens............
