Re: Windows 7 or vista..?

I've upgraded two laptops from Vista to Win 7 Home Premium and the upgrade was a total success - Win 7 is a very worthwhile upgrade indeed.

Windows Vista is a pile of pooh!

Windows 7 is what Vista should have been, anyone who had Vista should have been given a free upgrade.

I run both on different machines.
I have found that Windows 7 once you get used to the differences is more stable than Vista, only drawback that I have found is that some of my software does not run on Windows 7.
You can get round that in most cases by running a Windows XP emulator or upgrading software and/or hardware drivers in most cases.

Worth checking software or hardware for compatability before going ahead.

This link to MS upgrade advisor may be of use.

Totally agree! I have a laptop and a home PC running different versions of the same OS! How stupid is that? Silly messages that tell you a program has stopped working after you have closed it yourself -- der!!
A good number of people at Microsoft should have been sacked for inflicting Vista on the world.

Re: Windows 7 or vista..?

I have used Vista on my laptop and desktop ever since it was released and had no problems with it at all, I recently changed the desktop to Win 7 as I wanted to go 64bit but that's the only reason, but I don't see any reason to buy a PC with Vista on it now, Win 7 is the new operating system so go for that.

Re: Windows 7 or vista..?

Everything I have seen makes this one an easy decision, Windows 7 is much the better product. I don,t think the history books will be kind to Vista, treat yourself to the impressive Windows 7

Cheers

Re: Windows 7 or vista..?

Agree had Win 95, Win 98, Win ME, Win 2000,WinXp jumped over vista as had experience with friends machines have Win 7 and now that I have got used to it I am changing my other machine to Win 7.
Again check the software you are going to use first or check upgrades exist.

Better... WINDOWS 7 !

However you may laos see XP out there as it's offered on Netbooks and it's still OK on these smaller computers (I'm using mIne now). So the answer depends on how powerful a PC you are getting .. Whatever you do don't get Vists

Worth changing ...
from Vista ...Yes
from XP ...maybe - depends what you use

Regards
Andy
