Massive Hornet got into the house.

I persuaded it back outside rather than photograph it.

I would have photographed it - hornets are one of my favourite insects. They're very docile and not at all aggressive in my experience, though I have been stung by one which wasn't very painful.

About a month ago, I found what looked like a, larger than usual, [I]Volucella zonaria[/I (a hornet mimic and parasite] in my cactus greenhouse. Happy that it was a harmless hoverfly, I used my hand to guide it towards the roof vent.

Lacking success, I started to actually block its path with the palm of my hand. I was just getting to the point where I was going to grab it when I saw its antennae.
