Stylus 1 visits the NEC

Barrie and I joined other e-group members at the NEC for the Photography Show yesterday and I took along the Stylus 1 for convenience. Just a few to show -

1. Damian McGillicuddy, alongside his model, giving an on-stand talk -

2. Mark Thackara, of Olympus, talking to visitors to the Olympus stand -

That's the serious stuff over with, now for the diversions. First the glamour (on the Hasselblad stand) -

3.

and then the skills, Olympus style -

4.

5.

Regards,
Ann1e

I was stood just off to the right in that first shot too. I thought Damien was very entertaining as well as informative. Much preferred these sessions to the one in the little demo area. Sorry I missed you and Barr1e.

" ... just for convenience" eh ? ... I'd say the Stylus in that situation did it as well if not better than any, Annie ... excluding the XZ-2 of course

I was there today impressed with the Om10 size and handling, def on my wishlist. Th teeny 14-42 lens seemed to be good too, this was a snap at 14mm f5.6 1/20

It's great to see these lovely shots you got of the show & also Barrie's with both of you using the Stylus 1 cameras.

Was that good thing or a bad thing?

Re: Stylus 1 visits the NEC

Probably good as the camera warranty would not cover damage caused by shots of me .

Re: Stylus 1 visits the NEC

Looks like it was a good stand there.

I'm a little confused by the offer of "sensor cleaning" by Olympus though (No. 2). My understanding is that nobody ever has it done, perhaps a jovial jab at the other manufacturers?

Re: Stylus 1 visits the NEC

We were sorry to miss you both - Ed and Phill, more especially in that you were both within a few feet of us. Small compensation that I managed to capture your bag, Ed!

We did hit the Olympus base several times during the morning/afternoon but didn't see any groupings - guess everyone had split to do their own thing.

Regards,
Ann1e

No, Mark, not only for convenience - the camera does a splendid job and I rarely leave the house without it. There are so many occasions when it pays to be discreet, although not at a Photography Show!

I don't have personal experience of the XZ-2 but your recent posts have been exceptional.

Ann1e

Re: Stylus 1 visits the NEC

Thanks, Sponner, Ross, al_kaholik, Keith and Barrie for looking in and commenting.

Like you, Ross, Barrie and I have been very pleased with our Stylus 1 purchases and we have seen that you have been getting excellent results.

The Olympus 'cleaners' were situated slightly apart from the main stand and seemed to be doing a brisk trade whenever we passed by.

Regards,
Ann1e

Re: Stylus 1 visits the NEC

Looks like there was more interest on the Oly stand than when I visited yesterday. Everyone must have been getting jaded - including the cameras and (lack of) lenses.

That's a shame, Stephen - there was a real buzz to the show on Monday and the exhibitors seemed very pleased, particularly as (we were told - we didn't attend last year) the last Focus event was a little disappointing.

Did you drive up or let the train take the strain?

Regards,
Ann1e
