Close Encounter by johndal, on Flickr

Well they're aliens on the moorland as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Aliens have landed

A great shot which illustrates your point very well John. I have to confess that I am not as anti as some people and even think that some electricity pylons can have a beauty of their own as they stretch across the landscape, emphasising the space. But there again, it is not my landscape. Thanks for posting.

Re: Aliens have landed

An excellent shot John. A real message and nicely visualised and processed.

As you imply. It simply looks so very wrong

Re: Aliens have landed

Cheers all.
For the record I think these things look great in an industrial environment, and there is no shortage of unused industrial land in Northumberland. It's all a matter of suitability. And one last thing, during the recent gales the upland ones have not been running, whereas same sized turbines at the coast never stopped.

Re: Aliens have landed

That's a great take on these monsters.

I personally regard land wind turbines as an unforgiveable blot on the landscape.

For perspective, at this moment (11.00 Friday 19th) the entire UK wind turbine installations are producing just 1.9% of the UK's electricity demand, while we are importing 3.6% from France.

An inspired take.

I have to agree that in the right place they are not an eyesore but can add a beuty of their own.
