The Martians have landed

Here are a couple of photos a hill walk in the Staffordshire Peak District last saturday. The weather was grey and drizzly all morning, but cleared up at lunchtime to provide an increasingly glorious 'golden hour'.

  1. View west from above Roach End towards Sutton Common

    .
  2. View west from Roach End to High Forest and Sutton Common beyond. The rock outcrop on the LHS of the image is called 'Hanging Stone'.

Sutton Common is the site of the telecomms tower that you see from the West Coast mainline just south of Macclesfield.

Re: The Martians have landed

Well worth putting up with the drizzle earlier in the day, I'd say! A wonderful end to the walk.

#1 is brilliant, I'd love to have it on my wall as it is a view I've often passed by.

Great light, and great choice of viewpoints.
