Egyptian Show

An Egyptian Goose putting on a show for his mate. These odd looking geese were quite a rare sight a few years ago but they seem to be popping up all over the place these days.

E-30, 50-200 SWD, EC-14.

Re: Egyptian Show

Tell him to keep impressing his mate ONLY in the water as those legs are worse than mine...almost.

Nice shots.
love the 1st - are they out in the wild now.I thought they were only at places like Slimbridge.

Re: Egyptian Show

Thanks Keith. As I said, they are all over the place here now. I regularly see them in the fields beside the dual carriageway on my drive into work in the morning. When they fly they show distinctive white patches on the tops of the wings which makes them very easy to identify.

Re: Egyptian Show

They're a damn nuisance at our sailing club on the Thames where they defecate all over the lawn. Unfortunately there's not much we can do. The general licence only allows them to be culled for the conservation of wild birds; not for reasons of public health.

Just like Canada geese have become. At a local pond for people to play with their model boats I have seen locals spending hours just walking around and making sure they stay in the water and not on the paths which I recall were a messy slimy hazard.

Thanks Ron - I will have to look out for them, they are bound to find their way over here.

Re: Egyptian Show

The difference is that you can cull Canada geese for public health reasons.
