Autumn colours - reds and golds

Took this shot while out on a stroll a few weekends ago with my wife and daughter. As I took the shot it reminded me of a fantastic poem by the Moody Blues... forget what it was called, but it started...

"As the White Eagle of the North was flying overhead, and the browns, reds and golds of Autumn lay in the gutter.... dead!
Remember then, the Summer bird, with wings of fire, flaying... come to witness springs new hope, born of leaves decaying
As new life will come from death, love will come at leisure, love of love, love of life, and giving without measure, gives in return a wondrous yearn of promise... almost seen.
Live hand in hand, and together we'll stand, on the threshold... of a dream"

Gorgeous! The colours mix really well. It reminds me of a painting. (not one in particular, just the way painters would mix colours in a scene). The angle in the foreground works really well too, and the poem is very fitting
Thanks for posting this!

Very poetic

It's a lovely scene - only the grey cloud at the top is a shame.

I'd say careful feathered selection of the area and then experiment with the levels.

Re: Autumn colours - reds and golds

If using Photoshop, try using Image/Adjustments/Replace Colour, click on the area and just adjust lightness. If you make a rough lasso selection around the area you want to change first, your Replace Colour adjustment won't affect the rest of the image.

Re: Autumn colours - reds and golds

I like this picture very much. It rekindles recent memories 3/4 weeks ago buried in the grounds of the Ashridge Estate (with Anne -watch it) when we were waiting for the stags' nervousness to dissipate.

Kind regards. Barr1e
