Re: Glasgow Armadillo

Wow, that's one impressive building I'd sure love to photograph too! Nice shot Garrie.

Personally, I think you've done a great job at presenting this shot and don't think it needs further PP. Of course, there's always 'stuff' one could do to an image; but you have this one nailed right there.

Hi Garrie -

Anne and I lived at Bearsden for four years, I worked in Glasgow and Anne over in Renfrew way back in 1970. I was sent up from the south for a four year term (not Barlinnie). My patch was Scotland and NI. If only I knew then that I could take a half decent shot I would have a vast portfolio of them there hills etc. Ah well another story.

What a great looking building and more to the point a very good photograph. Obviously fairly new with looks of another famous design.

All the best. Barr1e

Re: Glasgow Armadillo

Hey Garrie

Here's a simple edit - no better no worse, just an alternate take on an existing good photograph.

Re: Glasgow Armadillo

theMusicMan - Thats brilliant, blue's are so much more Vivid than mine, thanks for that, may I ask what you did?

P.s Do you think the image is soft, trying to work out if my 14 - 45 kit lens is soft or not, it may be the jessops UV filter I have on it.

Can't wait to see what the new 14 - 42 kit lens is like.

Cheers
Garrie

Re: Glasgow Armadillo

Hi Garrie

Thanks for the comments.

It may be a 'tad' soft - bit nothing to be concerned about. Probably due to the low light levels...

As for what I did in Photoshop:
  • adjusted the levels to enhance the overall contrast
  • 'upped' the exposure and brightness slightly, with corresponding increase in contrast
  • played with saturation 'blue' slider to increase blues
  • played with overall saturation to bring out colour more
  • applied a small 15/15/15 amount of noise filter via Neat Image
  • sharpened slightly
  • placed border (one of my actions, so a single fn key press)
voila!

how's that...? happy to help.

Garrie

I liked the picture and the chance to give a slightly different edit. I hope you like this version too!

I mainly tried to up the blue and reduce the yellow in the lighting.

best wishes

Peter

Re: Glasgow Armadillo

Peter I like that also, really like the blue look on both the edits. Does my head in that there is so many ways to process the same image.

Thanks again guys
