Ec-14

Hello all,

Just a quick question could one of you fine people please tell if the EC-14 will work with all the lenses I have for my 510. These are kit lenses, 70-300 and 35mm macro. Or will this converter only work with specific lenses

Thanks

Re: Ec-14

the EC14 will 'work' with all 43rds lenses

it magnifies the effective focal length by 1.4x with all
it will decrease the exposure by 1 stop with all
it will magnify any weaknesses and flaws in all the lenses by 1.4x

from the above it can be seen that

for long lenses made even longer the issues associated increase (stability)
for slow lenses the loss of a stop of light can impact on the camera's AF performance
for slow lenses the loss of a stop of light will result in a poor viewfinder experience
for poor optical lenses the flaws will be magnified - not a huge issue for the ZDs overall

generally it's the slow lens issues that bite in practice, and lead to the wider recomendation to keep the effective maximum aperture of the combined optics at F8 or lower.

Re: Ec-14

I can add that the EC14 does nothing bad at all to any Zuiko lens I have used with it. My previous experiences with various teleconverters has been all bad, they generally produce images that are soft at the edges or lack contrast, but this EC14 is just great.

BTW - Olympus say you should only use the f2 50mm macro at f2.8 or smaller with the EC14, what they mean is that the combination is not quite perfect at f2...
