Open Wide

A short Heron sequence - or what you get if you watch and wait.

(Apologies if any find these too similar to my Heron Shots last year)

E-3, Sigma 135-400, EC1.4, Master, The GIMP.

From the 'Bridge', Swindon Coate Water Park

Re: Open Wide

Been thinking about the Sigma as my next purchase, Nick, the image quality is excellent, and the subject well worth waiting for.
Particular to no 2, that hunters look in the eye.

Re: Open Wide

Brilliant sequence of shots Nick, and some good detail too.

I wonder how many people have taken pictures of a Heron's tongue?

Unfortunately it seems the Sigma 135-400 has been deleted from the sigma range - so it's existing stocks or 2'nd-hand. Pity because I rate it as a very underestimated lense, and (with some reservations about wide open/full stretch) would recommend it. Certainly it serves me well and I'd be loathe to part with mine.

NO 2 - well that's a classic heron look, personally though I think the meanness is due to indigestion - this was a predator enjoying the rest that is the privilige of anyone at the top of the food chain.

Thanks

Nick

Thank you Ellie - it was catching the open mouth and tongue that led me to post these as they are otherwise very similiar to the shots I'd posted before.

But I hope seeing the colour shape of the mouth/tongue makes up for any repitition.
