Meet the Lizard

I came across this confiding Common Lizard on the path at Strumpshaw Fen last week.

E-M1 II and 300mm F4.

Definition like these make me regret not having gone for the M1 Mkii, Ron. Brilliant.

Re: Meet the Lizard

Impressive shots Ron.
Mark I think that 300mm lens has a lot to do with the quality of those images too. Maybe that's where you should be putting the extra cash burning a hole in your pocket .

Not having used the EM5, I would have thought it was well up to the mark (sic) for this sort of photo. Agree with Phil that the lens is the decisive factor here. The PRO lens are really good...……...

Ron,

Well done, both for the image quality and for not alarming it.

It looks like it's flattened its body to catch the sun's rays and warm up.

It is a good one. They're only a few inches long - not like a parentie!

Re: Meet the Lizard

Many thanks for all the kind comments. As Jim suggested, it was indeed sunning itself at the edge of the path. We often see them on the boardwalks on sunny days and they are usually quite tolerant, provided you don't make any sudden movements. However, if they are spooked they disappear in the blink of an eye. As Jim pointed out, they are quite small, the body on this one measuring about four inches in length, with a much longer tail. The good light and the fact that it stayed still helped with this shot, although the lens played its part too!

As others have suggested, I don't think the IQ of the E-M1 II is much better than that of the E-M5 II, although the extra pixels are very useful for cropping. The main advantage of the E-M1 is its continuous autofocusing abilities, although I am still struggling to master them. The 300mm F4 is a brilliant lens, if somewhat overpriced. However, I wouldn't want to use one without the extra body size and grip of the E-M1 II. It is quite a weighty beast.
