Firmware

What is the latest firmware update?
I assumed that when my camera and lenses were cleaned at the NEC, firmware was updated.

Re: Firmware

I am using 2.1, which Olympus Viewer 3 found for me via the updater, but, as mentioned above, the latest version on the Olympus site is 2.0. Rather strange.

It's on the Olympus site as far as I can see. http://cs.olympus-imaging.jp/en/supp...tware/firm/e1/

Anyhow, updating (the normal way) will be to 2.1.

Your ' Olympus site' would be your local UK page though, which may not necessarily be updated to show all updated information, but Olympus Japan does have it (in English). http://cs.olympus-imaging.jp/en/supp...tware/firm/e1/

A few people have been reporting the same thing on the DPR forums. I just tried checking for updated software with OV3 and it failed to communicate with the server. There seems to be a problem with the Olympus server.

Re: Firmware

Hmmmm. Maybe I'm getting more paranoid, but...

Since I did the update to 2.1 a couple of weeks ago, I have noticed the E-M1ii-300-tc1.4 combination seems to sound different when shooting on Low continuous with the electronic shutter at around 10 frames per second and IS-1 for birds in flight - a sort of 'deeper' note, and it feels like there's a touch more vibration going on.

It's the same with both bodies and I do seem to be getting a higher proportion of images in critical focus, so there doesn't seem to be anything wrong. I believe there's no change with the 12-100 shooting in the same way. It's very easy to get fooled by this sort of thing, of course...

I'm really enjoying the smaller focus point, which was very useful the past couple of days for a lot of warblers and tits flitting in and out of the shrubbery in the Broads: it's a definite improvement. I also like the battery indicator now showing apparently-believable levels below 20% (when it used to switch to red flashing).
