Re: Site changes probably need to be made

Perhaps its me but I really struggle to understand the requests by people who only want to view a photo forum on a mobile. Whats the point the screen size is so small you cant see any detail.

Guess thats why instagram is so popular., if I wanted that I would join it and enjoy all its gimmicks.

Whats the point of having a quality camera then viewing the images on a mobile ?

The desktop dinosaur!

I think you can enjoy photography on a small screen - it's just different. Instead of technical details you still see great composition and colour. I was lukewarm to Instagram at first, but I now post shots there a lot. Getting responses from others is addictive too

Re: Site changes probably need to be made

My phone screen is also 1334x750 so not that far off the 1920x1080 I use on desktop albeit much smaller pixels

Sometimes I'm looking at images, often when posting and replying I'm part of a conversation.

As I travel for work I often pass the time looking at forums - when there is a large photo in the post and people haven't added carriage returns to replies its quite painful to scroll left and right and pinch to zoom - so I don't bother.

I also use a desktop and a laptop most of the time - with adaptive/response forums there is no reason for the experience on one platform to compromise the experience on another.

Re: Site changes probably need to be made

I am a forum addict,i don't watch TV much at all so belong a few forums.

I have no problem being surrounded by adverts to help fund it, so long as i dont have to close any.
I know we have the new post facility but i cant find a way to work it the way i like.
I like to come on to a forum click new posts since last visit, read those of interest then click mark all read.

OK - I will look at that, I don't see why we can't provide a facility like that (in fact I thought it worked like that anyway - maybe I am missing something).

Re: Site changes probably need to be made

I use the recent threads page to view the forum via phone or laptop. The only thing I don’t like is that the Lounge posts don’t show there any more.

I wonder if there is a way of accommodating that without going back to the way it used to work - let me have a think.

Ian
In some ways I miss it, but in other ways I thought it was being over used, particularly instead of Foto Fair, by having their thread appearing on the front page.

I think a direct link to the Lounge from the front page, perhaps in the form of a 'sticky' could see more visits to it, but then, this is a camera/photo forum first though, I guess.

Besides all that, I appreciate all you do Ian.
