Re: Editing

Hi Brian, I recently started using Capture One Express and haven't looked back since finding the images are sharper crisper than I have gotten out of Adobe. I have been told the pro version is even better due to using layers so you can tweak specific areas and dynamic range is far better I think even in the Express version.

Do download a 30 day trial, and compare with your usual software, I think you will be pleased with the results.

Dave

Re: Editing

I used to use C1, but earlier versions destroyed the exif. I believe that!s been sorted now.

Personally I'm a fan of Lightroom. I've been using it since it was Rawshooter, and I like the workflow. Although I'm ambivalent about its database functions, this is useful. Printing from Lightroom is wonderful - I've nearly mastered it! In short, Lightroom is just bursting with features.

Re: Editing

I find Elements does all I need and doesn't confuse me too much.

Re: Editing

I have Capture One 7 Pro and Lightroom 5 but have to admit 90% of the time I use Capture One but then I do not use CO7 or Lightroom to organize my photos just develop raw files.

Re: Editing

Long time Capture One (7) Pro user here, been a user since version 4.
Many moons ago I spent probably too much time evaluating output from RAW converters and I kept coming to the conclusion that for me the output clarity from Capture One was a step ahead everything else (that I tried).

Re: Editing

I am still sticking with Aperture and exporting to PS 6 and back if required to correct verticals or perspective, swap heads or do other activity not supported in Aperture. There is also Pixelmator for PS type activity as well.

The keyword search and easy creation of web sites, albums and slide shows meets my needs. The DAM aspects are very important to me as well.

I am also wondering if an Aperture upgrade will appear that will require some new features that may/may not appear in Yosemitte - just speculating.

Aperture 3 was dependant on features in a OSX release that preceded Aperture 3

I think its a swings-and-roundabouts issue. One version C1 will be better, then LR will upgrade and be better for a while, and so on. They're so close.
