Re: Photography Show NEC 17-20 March 2018

Yes there were a few price variations as Ian said. But definite bargains to be had. Went to the Oly stand a few times during the day but missed you every time Ian I'm afraid.

Re: Photography Show NEC 17-20 March 2018

Well I won't be able to get there today as heavy snow here in South Wales has meant the club coach trip has been cancelled. At least I can't spend anything. Hopefully, we can get refunds on our advance tickets we bought.

At least you will be able to shoot some snow scenes instead.

Re: Photography Show NEC 17-20 March 2018

I shall not make the Oly stand at 12:00 as I am keen to see a talk which unfortunately is at 12:00 as well. I'll be making a bee line to the stand as soon as I get in to drop my camera off for a clean and I'll doubtless pop by every now and then so hopefully see Ed at al at some point.

Any mention of rugby could trigger a full on grumpy attack which is not a pleasant sight.

Re: Photography Show NEC 17-20 March 2018

I suggest if you want your Oly cleaned it's best to get to the stand as soon as you can. I was forth in the queue yesterday so didn't have to wait long but by the time I'd finished the paperwork there was a pretty long queue.
I didn't meet any of the regular forumites this year but did have a nice chat to an ex member on the Sony stand as we waited for an astro presentation. Thanks to Sony for the interesting presentation but neither of us were converted. Here are a few of the other characters I did meet! Hope you all have a good get together tomorrow sorry I'll not be there. Don't do what I did either and forget to put your cards back in the camera after cleaning. I'd taken a dozen excellent shots before noticing

Oh yes they were stunning Mark
Well they might not have been really but I was in a much better place to shoot and it was at the start of the parade. These were hurriedly shot as they were finishing the tour of the hall.

No problem Mark. They could have done with a bit faster shutter speed to be honest.

Re: Photography Show NEC 17-20 March 2018

2 clean bodies (I must have been just a few places behind you in the queue, Phil: I had a chat to a couple of people there, but no-one I think from here).

BTW theyíll also do lenses this year, and I think itís up to 4 items per person per day, so Iíll be taking in what glass Iíve got with me tomorrow.

I bought a Laowa 7.5 from their stand at £449 for the standard black model, which is a good deal. Iím getting up for the dawn tomorrow and going to a local wetland, so it might be fun to try it.

The 17 f1.2 is £949 at LCE which is painfully tempting: thatís £100 cheaper than it has ever been in the U.K. before, according to camerapricebuster.

Two fantastic talks in the Super Stage from photojournalists: Brent Stirton on wild animal conservation and anti-poaching in south and east Africa, and gut-wrenching reportage on the Ebola outbreak in Liberia and the Ďdrugs warí in the Philippines by Daniel Berehulak. Itís just wonderful (but seriously harrowing) to see old-style embedded reportage like this, still thriving in the iPhone era.

Iíve measured up a load of backpacks in half the hall and have eliminated the Peak Design (sorry, Margaret, but itís too big), but have a shortlist of two so far.

See yíall tomorrow.

Check with me I have a nice Lowepro bag you can check out.
Thanks for the lens cleaning tip off, read it just after I reconfigured my bag to leave most lenses behind; will refill.
