Kakadu Jabaroo (new painting)

Foraging Jabirus composed from several images I photographed on the Mary River NP, Northern Territory, Australia.
The bird in flight is a Great Egret (Ardea alba, ID'd by courtesy of Lyn, aka Floribunda).

Oil on canvas board 20" x 12"

I like this one Mark. (If it sells do I get royalties for the ID?)
The Jabiru (Oz's only stork) is a favourite of mine and you have IMHO captured the feel of that glorious Northern Territory sun in the sky and on the water.
Yep - I like this one!

Mark,

It almost makes me want to take up painting. The world would be worse place!

You want to be careful. You could end up having to paint such items for a living.

Another nice show of a hidden talent. You've had too many bushes to hide away.

If it sells I shall send you an autographed print of it which in time may well be worth more than a royalty on a single painting (viz. Antiques Road Show) ...
Glad you like this one Lyn, and thanks for the correct spelling of the bird for which I may send you an extra signed print for exposing the enormity of my ignorance on matters ornithological / horticultural, and doubtless many other matters.

Painting is most gratifying, Harold. With archives full of references every 'toger should have a go at interpreting his images into paintings. I see the two mediums as complementary. For starters go buy yourself a few tubes of paint and brushes, and a pad of watercolour or oil painting paper. If you wanted to get more serious then join a local art group who will help you with the basics.

Janette and I tried that in the 70's, Wally by painting our way around OZ for a year with 4 kids, camping and displaying and selling our work along the wayside as we went. It was a bloody hard life but also lots of fun. Thanks.

An excellent composition Mark. The bank of the river and the reflection of the sun are exquisite.

You shouldn't have owned up to the incorrect spelling, but ran with "Jabaroo".
"Kakadu Jabaroo" has a nice catchy Aussie ring to it.

Re: Kakadu Jabaroo (new painting)

Thanks Ross. I'm hoping to pay the NT another visit in August or thereabouts, mate. The Mazda should make the trip easier than it was in the old Pulsar!

Lyn, sorry for missing your last comment. I spelled as I had heard it spoken and should have known better. The title's nice catchy ring appealed to me too.
