Re: Shutter Count not working

Oly also don't include it in the EXIF data either so I will just give up trying.

Maybe at the next firmware update

I really do wonder why its so difficult to find out what the shutter count is. A place in the menu would seem logical, at a press of a button. Not like the button pressing waltz as is at the moment..................

Gonna wear out the buttons if you do it too often..

I agree that it is not in the EXIF. It might be worth mentioning that ExifTool by Phil Harvey extracts lots of metadata from ORF files, much of which is 'lost', when the image is processed in a photo editor. The EXIFGUI makes it easier to use with 'Windows'.

Some of this extra information can be useful. For example, the focus distance setting of the lens is recorded. I have used this to determine the actual steps when using focus stacking. this has helped me to optimise the sttings for specific subjects.

The sensor temperature is also recorded, which may be of interest to astrophotographers concerned about noise performance.

Re: Shutter Count not working

Finding the shutter count on Sony's cams is very easy. You just tell a small on-line program which picture is the last one taken with the camera, click 'go' and it will give the information to you. It possibly works via Sony's Exif details.

Such a shame we can't do something simple like that with Olympus cams.

Re: Shutter Count not working

YIPPEE. it worked
used my fingernails as suggested by Growltiger

Thanks to everyone for their help.

I have a mechanical shutter count of 1214 and also discovered I have 3341 actuations using IS so I guess the difference is the electronic shutter.

I mostly use the electronic shutter so it makes sense.

Well done. Fingernails can be very useful.
