Question Peckforton Castle Experience Day

I'll be going to an experience day at Peckforton Castle on the 17th of May, hosted by Damian McGillicuddy - as a freeby when I bought my E-M1 MkII.

We've been told that there's no birds of prey this time, just photo opportunities to take portraits in the castle. So I'm thinking of taking my prime lenses (15mm, 25mm, 45mm and 75mm) as well as a catch-all zoom. (12-100 zoom is only f4, so I was wondering if the 12-40 f2.8 would be a better bet...)

Anyone else going, or been there before? Any other advice on what to expect?

Chris

Re: Peckforton Castle Experience Day

Depends if you are taking the wife to carry all of the glass. 12-40 will suit most of what you want, and 40-150 will work if some birds come close.........

Only addition I might make is a 7.5mm fisheye, or similar..........

I went there. A good opportunity for you to try a proper wide angle, the 7-14 Pro. Grab one of those as soon as you can (go up to the table and ask for it right away).

I tried the 12-100 when there and unlike everyone else was disappointed, I prefer my 12-40.

Re: Peckforton Castle Experience Day

Thanks all,

I wondered if they'd be giving free trials of lenses to encourage sales.

So it sounds like I only need to take the basics and lenses that I'd like to compare with new Oly PRO ones then?

I suggest you simply take your 12-100 and concentrate on trying lenses you are not familiar with. The 7-14 Pro is the obvious one for a castle. But perhaps the 40-150 Pro or the 300 Pro might interest you.
